Deb
Caletti has been a writer for the past 9 years, and
a published lyricist since she was 19 years old. Before
that, she was involved in public relations writing for
various companies.
Deb went to Lake Washington High School in Kirkland,
Washington, U.S.A., and graduated in 1981. After that,
she earned a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Journalism/Communications
from the University Of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
Deb Caletti talks about her
new book:
“Honey, Baby, Sweetheart is about a girl and her
mother with very screwed-up love lives. They become
involved in reuniting a pair of geriatric lovers and
embarking on a road trip to California with a car full
of old people. The seed of this story came from an aged
family member separated from her love. The old man of
the couple said of her when they were to be separated:
“But she’s my soul mate.” This touched
me, and became a major part of the story. I got a lot
of the book’s ideas from my own life and my children.
I am definitely the kind of mother who sucks up everything
accidentally with the vacuum, and shares the human failings
of Ruby’s mother. The place where the characters
live, the fictional Nine Mile Falls is based on the
town where I live – paragliders really do get
stuck in the trees, and everything that happens along
Cummings Road really does happen!”
