1. Where did you get your inspiration
for Darkside?
Darkside was the result of a childhood
spent reading fantasy novels, a love of 1940s and 1950s
American detective films, and a fascination with the seamier
side of Victorian history. Exactly how that all came together,
I couldn't say, one morning, it was just all there in
my head. |

2. Do you believe that there
is another world, another Darkside?
I believe that, in the real world, strange
places and shadowy haunts are only ever just around
the corner... |

3. Why did you choose London
to be the setting for Darkside?
I'd never really visited the city before I
moved here in 2002, so it always held a mysterious,
unknown quality for me. I'm still discovering new things
about it almost every day. London manages to be both
enormous and intimate; backstreet warrens leading off
from busy thoroughfares. I can't imagine Darkside
existing anywhere else. |

4. Darkside
is ruled by Jack the Ripper's children, do you have
a big interest in Jack the Ripper and why did you use
him as the father of the Darkside children
?
I've had to do a bit of research on 'Saucy
Jack', and I was really interested with what the descendants
of such an evil man would get up to in Darkside ' you're
going to find out a lot more about them as the series
continues! |

5. Are you planning on writing
more books after this one? Is there going to be a sequel
to Darkside?
I've got plans for four more Darkside
books after this one, but I'll have to see if enough people
enjoy reading the first one! |
