Terry Deary is one of the UK 's most well known authors
of children's books. With over 6 million copies of the
Horrible Histories
series sold in the UK alone, Terry Deary's name is a
prominent feature on kids' bookshelves across the land!
You
may also like to know that if you fancy reading Horrible
Histories in other languages, you'll now
be able to find them translated into twenty-five different
languages - from Russian to Welsh. Now you need never
be without your favourite series if you run out of reading
on your holidays abroad!
It
was with great glee that Terry Deary realised, at the
age of 13 that he could write. It took him another 20
years to discover he could get paid for it! Since then,
Terry has become the author of over 130 books in the
UK and over 370 more world-wide!
Terry writes from his home - a converted pub in County
Durham - where he lives with his wife and daughter.
It takes him anything between six hours and six weeks
to write a book, depending on how long it is and how
difficult it is to research. He writes six days a week,
so free time is extremely rare. However, when he does
have time, he enjoys acting, local cricket, messing
about with computers, supporting his beloved Sunderland
United football team and running to half-marathon distance
for his favourite charity, Macmillan Cancer Relief.
