What is a Reading Group?
You might not know exactly what’s involved in a Reading Group, but one thing’s for sure - if you love books and you enjoy chatting to others about what you’ve read, then a Reading Group is right up your street!
So what is a Reading Group?
Well, it’s a group of people who choose a book to read and once everyone has read it they get together and talk about it. It can be as formal or informal as you like, but usually there is some kind of structure to the meetings and we can help with that by providing some questions for you to think about. You can use these questions as a starting point and they will hopefully lead to a fun discussion amongst your group.

Further info… & How many people?
10-12 people is about the right size for a good Reading Group.
Remember, not everyone will always be able to come along to all the meetings so this allows for absentees and you can still have a good discussion with a couple of members missing. If you have more than twelve, it's difficult for everyone to have a chance to speak…or worse still - everyone tries to talk at once!

Boys or girls – or both?!
It’s a good idea to decide whether your group is going to be made up of girls, boys, or girls AND boys. If you have a mixed group, you need to make sure that you pick books that everyone will enjoy. |
