Bullying, particularly cyberbullying, is a topic raised more and more frequently by schools and the press. It can be a difficult topic to discuss openly, but books like the upcoming Seven Days can be a fantastic resource for helping you talk about the issue with kids and teens.

Seven Days author Eve Ainsworth was compelled to write about bullying because it’s “one of the most isolating and painful ordeals a person can experience.”

“It takes many forms and the impact can be devastating,” says Ainsworth. “In Seven Days I wanted to tackle not only the target’s story, but also highlight that there can be underlying issues behind those that choose to bully. Often the bully is a victim too.”

We asked Book Club reviewer Harry, aged 14, what he thought of the book:

I really liked this book, it showed the subject of bullying in multiple perspectives. The book makes you think differently about bullying and the effects of it. It brings across the message of bullying in a meaningful yet subtle way, not being too brief or unimportant or “over the top”.

Seven Days will be released February, 2015.

To recognise Anti-Bullying Week, we’re also giving away a Wonder Bundle. It includes 2 copies of Wonder (1 for you and 1 to share with a friend), a copy of companion book 365 Days of Wonder, a poster and Wonder badges for you and your friends. Click here to enter the draw.

There’s plenty of other books to help you talk about bulling, including I Feel Bullied , which is excellent for younger children, the brilliant There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom , and The Greatest , which teens will really enjoy.
