Scholastic Christmas: Fill Our Stockings with Books!
Christmas is just around the corner and Scholastic HQ is looking very festive, so we have been asking each other, “What books would you like to find in your stocking this Christmas?”
Here are our top picks this Christmas:
“I would like to find The Imaginary in my stocking this Christmas, it has wonderful illustrations by Emily Gravett and is a shining example of how lovely books can be.
I would also love a copy of The Marvels by Brian Selznick – such a gorgeous book in every respect! Only problem – it might be too heavy for my stocking!
Finally, I would love to find Stories in the Stars: An Atlas of Constellations – it has lots of anecdotes about the night sky!” – Lucy
“I adore the hardback anniversary editions of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy and would be over the moon to find these under the tree on Christmas Day. I have such fond memories of discovering Lyra’s world as a teenager, so to revisit with these beautiful looking editions would be perfect.
I grew up with the Harry Potter series so the gorgeous new illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is most definitely on my Christmas list. The illustrations by Jim Kay are simply stunning and I can’t wait to discover this story all over again in full, illustrated colour.
There’s something about Christmas that makes me want to revisit my favourite classics, so if I could curl up with Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights one afternoon, especially these gorgeous versions, that would make me very happy!” – Fi
“I would really love to find the new flaming edition Hunger Games trilogy in my stocking. They look so beautiful and I’m a huge fan of the series. Plus, don’t you think the colours look quite festive?
I also really want to find the Illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in there (if it will fit!) Jim Kay’s illustrations are stunning and as a full-on Potterhead, I have to have all of the merchandise!!
Finally, I want The One Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith with illustrations by Alex T. Smith (the cover is so awesome!)” – Olivia
So those are our top picks. Our secret santa should be easy-peasy this year! What books are you looking forward to receiving in your stocking or under the tree? For inspiration, you can follow our #ScholasticChristmas advent calendar on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
