The 4 Greatest Ways to do the School Run

In celebration of the start of a new school term, we’re excited to share this guest post from our friends at MicroScooters on the four greatest ways to do a stress-free school run (some of them are a little imaginative).

Back to school preparation can test even the calmest of parents. Negotiating the school uniform shop, sewing on those oh so fiddly name tags and suddenly realising you’ve spent more on gel pens and pencil cases than you have on your kitchen can all lead to a bit of a frantic state.

Add to this a recent survey stating 77% of parents find the school run itself more stressful than work or grocery shopping and you have a recipe for strain and worry before the first reading diary has come home.

But what if all this could be changed and we could travel to school in a fun, fuss free way?

Here’s our top 4 ways we would like to do the school run.

1. Teleport

We can put astronauts on the moon but we can’t invent a teleporting machine! This surely has to be the greatest way of getting to school. Sure there would be a few mishaps with thousands of children “arriving” at school still dressed in their pyjamas but what’s a few Dennis the Menace pyjamas between friends?

2. Glass Elevator and/or the Augustus Gloop method

Imagine, no more ugly electricity pylons blotting the landscape just thousands of sparkling, shiny glass elevators criss-crossing the country depositing children safely into school. Alternatively some sort of child tube sucking device to whisk children from home to school.

3. By Zog or by Stick Man

Because arriving at the school gates with one or both of these would surely make you the coolest kid/parent ever. Also, bullies would be silenced.

4. Scooting

We of course have to recommend this way of traveling to school. But with good reason. Did you know an estimated 500,000 Micro scooters are used on the school run?* That’s a lot of great exercise for children and adults every day of the week all with the added bonus of getting fit together. But the real reason scooting is our favourite way of getting to school is it gets children out of the house quicker than you can say “ice cream van”. Shoes are suddenly put on, school bags found and hair brushed when a child is told they can scoot to school.
