About this event

Ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, Scholastic UK is proud to offer a fantastic opportunity to hear from one of the world’s greatest storytellers. Author of War Horse and Private Peaceful, Sir Michael Morpurgo will be speaking about his new book, Finding Alfie, which was inspired by true events as well as Morpurgo’s own relatives and their experiences of the war. An incredibly moving tribute that is dedicated in memory of Morpurgo’s uncle who died at 21 at the beginning of the Second World War, Finding Alife is about remembering and honouring all those who died. It aims to teach children about the Second World War and D-Day and to keep those memories alive.

The event will include a talk from Suzie Crowe, Learning Programme Manager at the Royal British Legion, as she discusses the RBL’s work, the events of D-Day and how we can honour and remember those who served 80 years ago to keep us safe.
