Scholastic Christmas: Festive Recipe!
It wouldn’t be Christmas without lots of festive food. From mince pies to Yule log, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! To get into the Christmas spirit we are sharing a recipe for some yummy Scottish shortbread – the perfect treat to make with the kids this festive season!
You will need:
*1. Greaseproof paper
*2. 350g of plain flour
*3. 100g of caster sugar
*4. pinch of salt
5. 225g butter
Method:
*1. Preheat the oven to 170°C/gas mark 4.
*2. Grease a baking tray with butter and line with greaseproof paper.
*3. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the sugar, a pich of salt and mix together.
*4. Rub in the butter until the mixture is like breadcrumbs.
*5. Knead the mixture well until it holds together, then gently roll it into a square, about 25×25 cm and 2-3 cm thick.
*6. Carefully mark out slices with a knife and decorate by pricking with a fork.
*7. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
*8. Remove it from the oven. Leave to cool on a wire rack and dust with caster sugar.
