About this event

Calling all dystopia fans! Join authors Sharada Keats and L.M. Nathan to chat about all things YA dystopia and how they created the dystopian worlds of their debut novels These Stolen Lives and The Virtue Season. What makes a gripping dystopia and what can dystopias tell us about issues in society today? Sharada and Lisa will give their top tips on creating dystopian worlds and also take questions from the audience.

The Virtue Season is the swoon-worthy Regency setting of Bridgerton with a chilling dystopian twist… Manon has just turned eighteen – a debutant at the start of The Virtue Season: a process which will result in a match with a suitable genetic mate. Agatha has been decommissioned, branded with a scar on the crest of her cheek which will forever sit at the corner of her vision. This is the story of their ritual year. And the Council is watching…

These Stolen Lives is a powerful dystopian thriller set in a world divided by race, where life itself must be paid for if you want to survive. Seventeen-year-old Mora is a survivor of the terrifying Skøl invasion and now must repay the ‘debt’ of her life lived before the invasion. Mora is resigned to her fate – until her friend, the twelve-year-old Zako, is to be put to death by the dangerous new Skøl Governor.
