There’s No Such Thing as Dragons!

Meet Daisy, the winner of the There’s No Such Thing As Dragons illustration competition!

No Such Thing as Dragons Asset

Last year we ran a competition for one lucky winner to have their art published in the latest book in the There’s No Such Thing… series. To celebrate it’s publication, we asked winner Daisy some questions all about books and dragons. You can see her winning artwork below!

Winning artwork

What’s your favourite picture book?

My favourite picture book is Duck, Duck, Dad? by Lorna Scobie. I like it because Ralph likes to go on quiet walks and then crack crack crack a hundred and thousand eggs. Daddy Duck came along and said to Ralph I have no idea how to look after these little pickles. So they all looked after every animal in the world.

How did you feel when you won the competition?

Yay! (Followed by Daisy doing a happy dance)

What’s your favourite thing about drawing?

That you can draw whatever you want in your imagination. That there’s different coloured pencils that you might need to use. Drawing makes you happy as a fiddle!

Who is your favourite dragon?

My favourite dragon is a scaly dragon called Ruby. Ruby steals all sorts of treasures but then she shares all of her treasures. She nearly didn’t do that but in the end, she did because that makes kindness and love. Ruby always plays with her new friends and they have a happily ever after. (Ruby is the character in Dragons Don’t Share by Nicola Kinnear)

What do you like the most about dragons?

I like that they have flames that are warm and you can toast marshmallows on them!

What’s your favourite page in the book?

I like the page that my picture is on because my picture is in the little boy’s den.
