Editor

  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Salary: Competitive
  • Hours: 35 hrs per week

What makes you the right candidate?

You’ve been working in editorial in children’s books, probably for a couple of years. You’ve got your toes stretched out looking for the next rung on your career ladder – and guess what? It’s here.

You’re looking for a place where you’ll feel as comfortable working on a book about unicorns as you are working on a book set in Georgian times (or you’d like to be!) – you’ve got tons of interests and a curious mind, which you want to apply to one of the most varied non-fiction lists around.

You’re as likely to love an afternoon researching rainforest facts for an illustrator (tree kangaroos! pallas cats!) as you are sinking your teeth into an editorial letter to an author new to our Voices series. You’re as enthusiastic about the next big animated Netflix property (or teen drama – we’re not ashamed) as you are beautifully illustrated non-fiction and everything in between.

You love creative conversations with colleagues, long-term projects mixed with short deadlines, you’re passionate about children’s literacy whether their route in is through an award-winning historical narrative story, a book about their favourite music star or the latest Pokemon book. You got to catch this job.

TL;DR

This really is one of the most eclectic roles in publishing with so much opportunity to try different things – no two days are the same. Join us!
