How to get free books for your school
We’re here to help you inspire readers. Not only does reading help children widen their vocabulary, stimulate their imagination and improve overall performance at school, but perhaps more importantly, it expands their understanding of the world around them. That’s why we’re proud to donate over £9 million in free books to schools every year.
Help your budget go even further whenever you:
- Hold a Book Fair
- Run a Book Club
- Purchase from the Scholastic Shop
- Or build a Scholastic Wish List
Find out more about the ways you can fundraise essential books and resources for your school below.
Hold a Book Fair
A Scholastic Book Fair is a pop-up celebration of reading that puts the very best books directly into pupils’ hands. Amazing things happen when a child can choose their own book to read, and with exclusive titles and prices from just £2.99, a Book Fair helps pupils access the right books for them.
The excitement for reading doesn’t end after the event – every book sold at your Book Fair helps to earn free books for your school!

Six times a year, we reveal a brand new Book Club selection of quality children’s books at discounted prices. The books we offer are carefully chosen to get children reading for pleasure – and to keep them reading right through their teenage years.
Schools running online-only Book Clubs share their unique Scholastic website address with parents. If your school has received leaflets, these are handed out to the children to take home. Parents order and pay securely online, or return leaflet order forms and cash to school.
For every £1 that parents spend on your school’s Book Club order we’ll donate 20p in free books back to your school†.
